This is an archive of histology images that can be examined as though the viewer were using a microscope.  The images were originally digitized to 24 bit pict format from 35 mm slides at a resolution of 3072 x 2048 pixels.  Each digitized image was originally about 18 MB.  The images have been super compressed using Lizard Tech's Mr.Sid software, reducing the file size to approximately 800 kB with no loss of resolution.  These compressed images can be viewed using the Mr.Sid stand alone viewer which is a plug-in for your internet browser.
